Welcome, Ye AdSaints, to

Hello, readers. I got quite the response from my last post on AdSaint and had some fellow from NYC write me to tell me he thoroughly enjoyed my story, albeit an experience which I am glad is over and I hope to never deal with again. Anywho, he did pose me a question which he said he would like to see answered. Here it is.
Dear Anne: Your post about overheard convo had me laughing so hard I cried, and immediately sent it around our office. If you are still looking for a job, shoot your resume up here - we need more well-appointed humor like yours to liven things up a bit, plus we are actually hiring. :) A few of us want to know - what is the job hunting scene like in St. Louis? I have never visited the midwest, but would presume it has to be much easier than it is in NYC since from other forums I have read everyone in St. Louis seems to know everyone - including the high schools they went to. Really? Seriously? We all had a very hard time imagining that. Our office looks forward to your response. And good on you for not taking any crap off the clowns who talked trash. Best, Ad Man in NYC
So, I mentioned the All Star Game yesterday, and it got me wanting to check out downtown, and see what they have being set up advertising wise for the big day. It doesn’t look to be too commercial yet, but its early before the big game. Get ready to see more ad's tied to buildings, car displays, and plenty of “Only On Fox” banners.
I am so hyped for the All Star Game for many reasons. The derby should be fun, I plan on spending the night at Al Habroskys for the big game, and unique advertising has gone up all around STL (that for a later post!). But the one thing I wanted was St. Louis to be hyped in the advertising. I love this city, and I think people should see what makes us unique during this time. So I see the first national advertisement Fox puts up this Sunday
I hang out with nerds. Whether it’s with some of my high
school friends (Computer Nerds), work friends (Sports Nerds), or at my college
(Design/Music Nerds) they’re some people obsessed about a certain part of
culture. Inside these groups, there is always one or two “Fanboys." Fanboy is a
loose term, coming from sci-fi culture, but, in my opinion, has expanded to
other products and mediums. The best definition I can come up with is “Someone whose
personal convictions are so strong about a product that they will fight to
defend its honor." Tell anyone in St.
Louis why the Cubs are better, and you will find Cardinals Fanboys coming at
you. Find a Nine Inch Nails fan, and tell him its overproduced crap. Get ready
for verbal beat down.
Flashback to last Thursday. I just got done working an 8
hour shift after maybe 4 hours of sleep. Running around, pouring beer will take
it outta you. Get home, realized that AdStock was tonight. Drag myself outta
bed, turn up the Jackson 5 on the way there, but to no avail cannot wake up.
That’s it, I’m not going to make it, and I’m going to go home and slee….
