Communications Specialist- Covidien

 

The Communications Specialist will report to the Director, Internal Communications and be responsible for helping to create and drive impactful communications in support of Pharmaceuticals vision and key strategic priorities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Helps create and execute an internal communications program that both informs and inspires and is designed to increase employee engagement and improve organizational and employee alignment with Pharmaceuticals business strategy.
  • Implements communication programs designed to strengthen leader, manager, and employee understanding of strategic priorities.  Develops material used in manager toolkits and other elements to help facilitate open and frequent dialogue between managers and employees.
  • Plans and executes functional duties associated with projects including fact finding, message development and dissemination, writing content production and assisting with business leader coaching and support.
  • Effectively blends traditional communications tactics with new media. Provides targeted communications utilizing a range of innovative, and appropriate channels including town hall sessions, face-to-face meetings, electronic media, intranet broadcast, digital video signage and print including  a bi-weekly global newsletter.
  • Drafts, distributes and manages announcements regarding organizational changes, initiatives and updates.  Works closely with business leaders and Human Resources to direct and implement the effective and timely cascade of messages throughout the organization.
  • Leads the campus-wide employee and community involvement program (CARES). Coordinates annual project plan with a goal of increasing employee attendance and participation in community programs, activities, recognition initiatives and events including Bring Your Kids to Work Day.
  • Contributes written articles and other materials that highlight accomplishments, milestones and trends impacting the Imaging and Pharmaceuticals business, including employee profiles and product spotlights, on the corporate level (for Pulse/CEO One-on-One’s), as well as Sector-level communications.
  • Coordinate relationships with St. Louis area not-for profits and the Partnership for Neighborhood Wellness philanthropic program in the St. Louis area.

 

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Exceptional writing ability, editor, presenter and proofreader
  • Ability to manage multiple projects toward timely completion

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:        Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field required.

Experience:       A minimum of 3 years experience required in a corporate communications or related role.

Skills/Competencies:    Excellent written & verbal communications skills;

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products

Other Skills:        Excellent team player

Ability to travel both domestically and internationally required.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE:

Reporting to the Director, Internal Communications, this position will collaborate closely with key stakeholders across the Pharmaceuticals sector.
