Stress and the PR Pro
Jobs are stressful. It doesn’t matter if you work in an office or outside, at a hospital or at a Zen garden, working can be tough.
By their nature, some jobs are just more stressful that others. CareerCast has put out their list of the 10 Most Stressful Jobs.
Topping the list: Commercial Pilot. And we agree. Holding dozens to hundreds of lives in your hands everyday? That can’t be easy.
But it’s what comes next that will be interesting to most of our readers.
The second most stressful job is the Public Relations Officer.
A combination of public speaking, continuous, tight deadlines, a highly competitive field and working with members of the media who trounce on any perceived misstep or slight discrepancy.
Of course, journalists don’t have it much easier. Photojournalists and newscasters come in at numbers 4 and 5, so remember that the next time you’re dealing with a gruff city editor or a moody reporter.
There are a number of ways to reduce stress (other than just finding a new career).
Sticking with the ‘list’ theme, WebMD has 10 Relaxation Techniques to help alleviate some of your stress including drinking hot tea, breathing deeply, and my personal favorite, taking a musical detour.
No matter your situation, there will always be times more stressful than others.
